We met way back in 2013 in Utah at a small software company, where together we built and launched their second product.
A few years after that, we founded a software company of our own and spent the better part of the last decade building something that we're quite proud of.
And now we're back at it a third time with our new company...
Can you tell we enjoy building stuff together? 😄
As avid outdoor enthusiasts, we've long dreamed of building a product that could help more people explore the wonders of their natural world. So when the inspiration for Pocket struck, we knew we had found our next adventure. We hope you'll join us!

Quinn graduated with a degree in Conservation Biology from UC Davis, and has loved all things nature, geology, & science since he was a kid.
In his final year of school, he met a fellow nature geek, and upon graduation, he followed her to Utah for dental school. There, they both fell in love with rockhounding (and each other) exploring the vast deserts of Utah.
Quinn and his wife are now living in California, where they now hunt for treasure with their rock-obsessed three year old daughter.
Fun fact: His daughter's prized amethyst crystal was the inspiration behind Pocket's logo!

Alma grew up exploring the foothills of Northern California, spending summers backpacking & camping in the Sierra Nevadas.
While earning his degree in Mechanical Engineering at Brigham Young University, he found both adventure & life-long friends through rock climbing in the Wasatch Mountains.
Now living in the Pacific Northwest with his wife & five kids, Alma loves creating tools that inspire others to get outside & share in his family’s passion for exploration & adventure.
Pocket's mission is to help people discover the joy of exploring their natural world.
Our world is a beautiful place, but far too few people get out there and experience all it has to offer these days. Screens of all sizes increasingly glue us into our couches with the promise of entertainment, novelty, and connection. But in reality, they often leave us feeling anxious, unfulfilled, and disconnected.
The antidote? Nature. No not your neighborhood park, big nature.
Rockhounding gets us outside, brings us to awe-inspiring places off the beaten path, and connects us with our fellow adventurers. That's Pocket's "why".
So get out there and make some treasured memories — and if you're lucky, you might even come home with a token of them in your pocket.
